Do you think it is worthwhile attending this event in terms of a learning experience?

It's only 150 miles from where I stay in the far north of Scotland.
I'm just a bit worried it might be more for professionals rather than serious amateurs like myself, and I'll look out of place.
It's looks really good though and I thought I might pick up a thing or two. _________________ Gordon MacLeod |

That list of players reads like who's who in your part of the world and Chuck Findley too. The famous guys who participate in these events all enjoy meeting people who like to play and are, without exception, willing to answer questions and visit some. I've had a lot of top pros lament that they miss the recreational aspects of playing that we get to enjoy. Go, ask questions and participate in all areas you can. You'll have a good time. _________________ Bill S. Little River Brass/Reunion Music Society Virginia Grand Military Band BME Indiana U. 1983 |

agreed, that's a "who's who" list for sure. When you go, give Michael Anderson a hard time
very close friend of mine, fishing buddy, etc..
sounds like a very cool opportunity. Enjoy _________________ Karl Sievers, DMA. Professor, School of Music, University of Oklahoma; Principal Trumpet, Oklahoma City Philharmonic; Bach Artist/Clinician; General Manager, National Trumpet Competition |

Wow, that looks great. I'm thinking of making the journey up from London myself.
You will certainly learn from just hearing all those players.
I remember a few years back when I played in the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra and Gerard Presencer was a guest soloist for a gig. He was unbelievable and on several occasions the trumpet section forgot to make the entries because we were so busy watching in amazement!
And to have Derek Watkins and Chuck Findley on the same event!
Thanks for bringing my attention to this festival
