I recently bought a 1946 Conn 10M from a reputable dealer and have started playing it with the same Meyer 5M mouthpiece I'd been using. After a week of playing I'm really starting to be annoyed by a squeaky sound I keep getting whenever I move from C to D (in any octave). Since the sound is consistent I have to think that it is either the horn or the horn/mouthpiece combination. Is it possible that the horn needs adjustment or I need a new mouthpiece? If anyone could tell me what is causing my squeaking I would really appreciate it.

You said any octave? Interesting. I would say that in the middle octave it might be because you are not putting down the third finger on your left hand soon enough, but if this happens every octave, I would consider either reed type or maybe ligature. Try other ligatures to see if this still happens.

Do you mean in the mid and upper registers or on every register including the lower register as well?

Your horn needs a tiny ajustment. I suppose the octave key is slightly lifted when you change your grip to D. Or else maybe one of your fingers is to slow
