Anyone ever hear of Selmer 'hiding' or putting the serial number in a secret place on vintage Selmer saxes?? Please email me at seboney@comcast.net
Thank You,

| When using a leak light on my Reference horns I've noticed some three digit numbers stamped on the insides. |

this is a guess
in manufacturing they use coded number series to id. part.
let say you have a been full on the same pieces but only one in that been is going to work for that sax so if you number all the parts that go together all you have to do then is make sure you have all the same numbers and your good to go
this system is use in most manufacturing these days
let say they use the manufacturing number then and a number to each part
as it goes on in the assembly process xxxxxxx-1 then xxxxxxx-2
until the whole body is assembled.
It could also be an attempted by Selmer to cut down on the thief rate of there saxes by placing the number in more than one place you could still identify your horn if you knew the numbers.
Just guessing perhaps someone in the know could help us out. |

| the 3 digits on selmer parts are the last 3 digits of the sserial number. This is to make sure that all the part that were made fit for this sax is used in the final assembly |
